Tampa ,FL - The Adelphi University softball team traveled to Tampa, Florida on Tuesday, March 11 for a nighttime double header at 13
th ranked the University of Tampa. Game one was all about the Spartan pitching, as Tampa held the Panthers hitless in a 6-0 victory. The Panthers suffered a, 3-0 loss in game two, registering two hits and leaving two on base. With the losses Adelphi falls to 2-4 overall, while #13 Tampa improves to 15-3.

Game One
The story of game one was the Spartan's pitching, as Kayla Cox held the Brown and Gold scoreless in a 6-0 victory. The hosts scored three runs in the bottom of the third on a double to right center and a single to center. Tampa added two more in the bottom of the fifth on another double and used a single to right center in the bottom of the sixth to tack on a sixth run.

Lindsay Mapes tossed a full six innings in the loss, striking out a collegiate-high seven batters, while walking two and giving up six hits in her second loss of the season.

Game Two
Tampa scored once in the bottom of the first, third and fourth innings on a fielder's choice, double to center and a single to take a 3-0 lead after four innings, despite the efforts of pitcher
Katie Andrews, who would be saddled with the loss. Â She put in six innings of work, striking out three Tampa batters, giving up nine hits and three runs in her second loss of the season.

The Brown and Gold managed three hits in the loss, the first from
Melaney Reichelt on a bunt single and the second from
Niki Barbato on another bunt single. Both runners were left stranded at second. Barbato also stroked a single through the left side of the infield in the top of the seventh but was left standing on first. Â
