Adelphi Keglers Finish Fifth in Capital Classic Baker Play

The Panthers will host the ECAC championship on the weekend of February 22 in Mineola, N.Y.



Middletown, DE - The Adelphi University women's bowling team blasted the Capital Classic with explosive wins accompanied by several losses to place fifth in the Baker Inivitational on Saturday afternoon. 

The squad started the day with a 156-pin loss 839-683 to host Delaware State University. The Hornets fell behind after game one, but rallied to close out a victory. The Panthers then handed the Gothic Knights of New Jersey City University a 233-pin loss, 690-457.

The Brown and Gold jumped out to an early 60-pin lead against Kutztown University but could not hold on in game three, as the Golden Bears rolled off six straight strikes to reverse the tables and claim a 841-816 win.

The Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University fell by 36-pins, 764-728, in match four. The Panthers then faced local rivals, the Terriers of St. Francis Brooklyn. Adelphi came within two pins entering the final game, but opened twice and fell by 30 pins, 730-700.

The final match of the day saw the team return to .500 as they finished the day with a 142-pin win over the Bisons of Howard University.

The Panthers are now 55-44 on the season and return to action on 
Feb. 22, 2014 at Sheridan Lanes in Mineola, New York as they host the 2014 ECAC Women's Bowling Championships. Matches begin at noon and admission is free.
