Bowling Captures Fourth Place at 2014 ECAC Championships

The squad will host the NEC #3 event at Sheridan Lanes in Mineola starting on March 1.

The team returns to action on Saturday, March 1 at Sheridan Lanes in Mineloa, N.Y.

MINEOLA, N.Y. – Fairleigh Dickinson University, ranked No. 3 in the nation, took home the 2014 ECAC Women's Bowling Championship on Saturday. The Knights finished with 5,025 total pins in the round robin format. No. 16 Long Island University-Brooklyn was second with 4,470 total pins, and No. 12 Sacred Heart University placed third with 4,449. Host Adelphi University, No. 20 in the nation, finished fourth at 4,266, Howard University was fifth with 3,826, and New Jersey City University was sixth at 3,319.

Fairleigh Dickinson senior Michelle Hunzaker (Cary, N.C.) was named Most Outstanding Bowler as she posted a total pinfall of 1,098 over five games for a 219.6 average. Joining her on the All-Tournament team were FDU teammates, freshman Melanie Hanon (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) and junior Liat Vizenfeld (Holon, Israel), junior Brittany Hart (Troy, N.Y.) from LIU Brooklyn, and senior Nicole Baginsky (South River, N.J.) from New Jersey City University. Baginsky rolled the tournament's high game of 240.

The Panthers fnished 3-2 on the day, posting a 58-46 overall record and will return to Sheridan Lanes this weekend to host the NEC #3 event.
