Garden City N.Y. – The Adelphi women's basketball team competed in its fourth Northeast-10 Conference matchup against Pace University at the Center for Recreation and Sport on Wednesday evening. The Setters posed a challenge to the Panthers early, but the Brown and Gold pulled away late to take a 73-57 decision. The hosts improve to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the Northeast-10 as the visitors fall to 2-5 on the season and 1-3 in league play.

Kelly Mannix who completed her sixth double-double with 26 points and 15 rebounds.
Sierra Clark contributed a career-high 15 points behind 7-for-11 shooting from the field
and five rebounds. Nearly missing a double-double was
Anh-Dao Tran, who posted 10 points and eight rebounds in the win.
For the Setters, Margo Hackett scored a team-high 13 points in 32 minutes played. Also in double figures were Jaclyn Oskam and Yuni Sher with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Forty-two seconds into the first half, the Brown and Gold took a quick lead with a jump shot made by Mannix. Both teams were going point-for-point before Sher made a successful jumpshot at 10:39 to give the Setters a three point lead. Adelphi consistently challenged Pace for the remainder of the first half by closing the gap, returning to a back-and-forth game.
At 9:28, the Setters held a one point lead of 12-11 before junior
Lauren Nuss shot a three-pointer at 8:33 to take back a two point lead for the Panthers. Pace continued to fight for the leading spot, but Adelphi drained consecutive threes and progressively raised the bar.
With only 56 seconds left in the first half, Adelphi had a 12 point lead and did not allow opportunitied for Pace to score. In the course of the last 16 seconds, the Setters brought the deficit to six, but Mannix shot a trey for Adelphi on the final possession to end the first half with a 33-24 lead.
Tran opened the second half with a jump shot at 19:55 keeping the lead for Brown and Gold. The Blue and Gold matched up for points after a layup made by Gabriella Rubin at 18:54. In the span of two minutes, however, the Panthers racked up three pointers for an eight point lead of 45-32.
Pace fell short when Adelphi spread out the point gap to 11 at 10:54. A jump shot for Pace made by Oskam closed the point lead to eight. Both teams battled for points, which led to a Clark jumper for Adelphi at 8:27. The Setters tried for points but couldn't cut a close score. Adelphi continued to hold a double figure lead for the remainder of the second half. Consistent jumpers by Mannix in the duration of the last four minutes resulted to a Panther win of 73-57.
The team returns to the Center for Recreation and Sport on Saturday, December 6 as they host the University of New Haven at 1:30 p.m.
