Garden City, NY – The Adelphi University men's basketball once again took advantage of free throw opportunities for the second straight game on the way to a 80-66 non-conference victory against visiting Queens College earlier this evening.

Duane Morgan notched 16 points and eight rebounds for the Brown and Gold (2-4) while freshman
Michael Coffey hit three 3-pointers on the way to 15 points in 28 minutes. Adelphi forced 22 turnovers behind 10 steals as sophomore
Damon Coleman and junior
Anthony Libroia combined for seven.
Jeremiah Mordi scored a game-high 18 points for Queens (0-4) to go along with five rebounds, five assists, four steals, and three blocks. Keith Williams came off the bench to knock down four 3-pointers towards 12 points.
A 12-7 run midway through the first half helped the Panthers turn around a three-point deficit into a five-point advantage with less than eight minutes until halftime. The score was tied three more times throughout the final moments of the first period before the Brown and Gold went into the break with a 36-31 lead after four straight points from junior forward
Ryan DeNicola.
Adelphi benefitted from a 10-3 lead in free throws made while the Knights scored 14 points off 11 Panther turnovers in the first 20 minutes. Coffey registered eight points while Coleman came up with three steals to go with four points and three boards. Jermiah Mordi scored a half-high nine points while playing all 20 minutes for Queens.
The Panthers continued the momentum into the second half, building a lead as large as 22 points with less than two minutes left. Morgan scored 11 points of his points in the second half behind 5-of-8 shooting to help build the lead.
The Knights managed to cut the lead to 12 points with 24 seconds remaining, however, sophomore
Kyle McLeggan converted 6-of-8 from the free throw line in the final minutes. Overall, Adelphi went 16-for-24 from the charity stripe in the second half while also forcing 10 turnovers.
The Brown and Gold return to Northeast-10 Conference action on Wednesday by hosting Pace at 7:30 pm.
