Albany, NY – Three goals in the second half after 68 minutes of scoreless soccer propelled The College of Saint Rose to a 3-0 win versus the Adelphi University women's soccer team earlier tonight in a Northeast-10 Conference Championship Semifinal game.
Senior Carmelina Puopolo scored the first goal of the contest in the 69th minute by driving a left shot into the right side of the net, clearing up a loose ball. More than 14 minutes later, Morgan Burchhardt scored her eighth goal of the season with a rebound shot 12 yards out. Senior Meeghan Arno closed out the scoring in the 87th minute by dribbling past her defender and driving a lefty shot into the net.
The Golden Knights finished the contest with a 17-4 advantage in shots while also posting nine corners compared to yielding just one. In goal for the Panthers,
Sam Whitney made six saves throughout her 90 minutes. Offensively, four different individuals registered a shot for the Brown and Gold.
Adelphi currently sits at a 13-5-1 overall record and awaits the NCAA Selection Show this coming Monday to see if the team earned a bid into the field.
