Women's Hoops Earns Fifth Straight Win Over Saint Rose, 76-59

Albany, NY - Traveling north for their second road trip of the season, the Adelphi University women's basketball program picked up their fifth consecutive win over the Golden Knights of the College of Saint Rose by a 76-59 decision. The Panthers improve to 5-0 and 3-0 against Northeast-10 Conference opponents as Saint Rose falls to 2-3 overall and1-2 in league play.

Leading the offense for the Brown and Gold were Calli Balfour and Kelly Mannix with 24 and 20 points, respectively. The two also combined for 13 rebounds in the victory. Contributing also for the Panthers were Samantha Milhaven and Sierra Clark who each came off the bench and accounted for eight points apiece. 

Going on an 8-0 run to start the game, Mannix, Sierra Schrader and Balfour all contributed to the eventual lead that Adelphi held the entire first half. When the clock reached 9:20, the College of Saint Rose;s Mariah Lesure scored two to bring the hosts within six of the visiting Panthers. 

With 6:57 remaining in the second half, connected with Clark for her sixth point off the bench to give the Panthers a 24-12 lead over the Golden Knights of Saint Rose. Adelphi went on an 8-2 run over the next two minutes to increase their lead to 18, 34-16.  Closing out the first half of play was Golden Knight Taylor Nazon who layed one in to leave the hosts trailing by 12 as they headed into the locker room. 

At the half, Balfour led all players with twelve points shooting 5-8 from the field. At one time, the Brown and Gold led by as much as 18 throughout the first 20 minutes of play. Saint Rose committed 12 turnovers into which Adelphi turned into 12 points alone. 

The biggest lead of the game first came at 46-22, after Mannix drained one from downtown followed by a Tran jumper just three minutes into the second half. At 13:52, Adelphi increased the lead once more to 25, courtesy of a Samantha Milhaven three-pointer. Despite shooting 1-9 from three-point range in the first half, the visitors shot 3-5 from beyond the arc in the last twenty minutes of play. The second half was no match for the hosts as Adelphi accounted for 40 points and 12 defensive rebounds. 

In their next outing, the women's basketball program will host non-conference opponent Millersville University on Sunday, November 30 at 1:30 p.m.
