Field Hockey Dropped by Assumption in OT, 3-2

Worcester, MA - The No. 7 Adelphi University field hockey program traveled to No. 9 Assumption College for one of their final regular season conference games Wednesday evening. The visitors dropped a 3-2 decision in overtime to fall to 12-5 overall and 7-3 in league play as the home team posts the same record overall and in the NE-10.

Olivia Nowokunski and Molly Cuevas were the only two players driving the offensive end for the Panthers as they scored both goals in the second half to force the game to overtime. Amanda Gargiulo had eight saves in the loss as the Greyhounds held a 17-15 shot advantage through all periods. Briana Rubenstein collected her eleventh defensive save this season, despite the loss.

Scoring the first Greyhound goal was Kiley Colucci after taking a shot off a rebound for her 13th of the season. Paige Anderson from Sarah Frahm gave the hosts a 2-0 lead just four minutes into the second half. About ten minutes later the Brown and Gold got on the board from a Nowokunski goal grabbed off a rebound. Cuevas scored the game tying goal with nine minutes left in regulation.

Each team had one shot in overtime, as Assumption prevailed, finding a way past Gargiulo for the game-winning goal for a final score of 3-2.

The Panthers take one last road trip this weekend as they travel to Rindge, New Hampshire to take on the Ravens of Franklin Pierce at 1:00 p.m.
