Manchester, N.H. – The red-hot Adelphi University women's volleyball team ran its winning streak to 13 straight matches after recording a hard-fought 3-1 (25-22, 20-25, 28-26, 25-17) Northeast-10 volleyball victory over Southern New Hampshire University at the SNHU Fieldhouse Saturday afternoon. The Panthers improved to 13-9 and 10-0 in NE-10 play, while the Penmen are now 13-9 and 5-5 in the league.
Adelphi was led by Kaitlyn DeStefano who recorded 16 kills on .682 hitting while also notching six blocks (four solo, two assists). Haley Blunt totaled 14 kills and three block assists, while Mandy Stanislovaitis added 12 kills. Sierra Crook notched 24 digs defensively, while Alayna Jackson handed out 37 assists.
Adelphi hit .331 as a team for the contest while recording 12 blocks and 11 service aces on the afternoon. The Panthers pulled out a win in a hard-fought first set thanks to just two attack errrors, while the Penmen committed four. The second set went to the the hosts, thanks to eight kills and just five errors, while the Brown and Gold came alive in set three to produce a game-high 20 kills. In the fourth and final set, the Panthers and Penmen committed four errors each, but Adelphi had six more kills then host Southern New Hampshire en route to the most decisive set win in the match.
The Panthers return to the court on Tuesday, October 28 when they welcome in the Chargers of New Haven for a 7:00 pm meeting.
