Reading, PA - The Adelphi University women's bowling program captured their first tournament of the season, posting a 5-0 record at Berks Lanes in Reading, Pennsylvania for the 2014 Kutztown University Baker Invitational.

The team wasted no time in their first match as they bowled a solid 852 series to lead them to a victory over Medaille College. In the second game, the Panthers rolled off a 1022 series, which held the title as highest series overall by any team in the tournament at the conclusion of the day.

In their second match of the day the Brown and Gold knocked down Mount Aloysius College to post a 2-0 record. Within reach of the first place title, the squad took match three against Felician College. Keeping the momentum, the team posted a 980 series, led by freshmen Rebecca Gotterbarn and Erica Novak to take a win against the Ravens of Franklin Pierce University.


In the final match of the day the team faced Delaware State University of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. Led by senior Kathryn Rivera, the Panthers came back from a 10-pin deficit to take the match and finish the day at 5-0 and in first place, winning by 174 pins in the tournament.

Rivera and Gotterbarn were the two members of the bowling program that were named all-tournament selections for their performance throughout the day. The team returns to the lanes to compete in the Kutztown University Team Invitational on Sunday, October 19.
