Garden City, N.Y. -  On the strength of a combined 23 kills from Haley Blunt and Kaitlyn DeStefano, the Adelphi University volleyball team (11-9, 8-0 NE-10) ran their win streak to 11 games on Saturday, October 18 with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-13) victory over Saint Michael's College. With the loss, the visiting Purple Knights fall to 5-10 overall and 0-8 in the Northeast-10.

The Brown and Gold scored the last six points of the first set to post a 25-14 victory behind a .379 hitting percentage. Blunt led the effort with five kills on a .556 percentage while Megan Manierski passed out 12 assists. The defense accumulated five total blocks, and DeStefano had a hand on three of them.

In the second, the Purple Knights aimed to even the match at one game apiece in the second set by opening up a 7-1 lead. However, the Panthers continued to chip away at the lead and eventually tied the game at 17-17 after a kill from Mandy Stanislovaitis. Adelphi rallied off a 8-4 run to secure a 25-21 win as DeStefano accounted for four kills to put the Panthers up 2-0.

The third set was tight at the start, as a DeStefano service error knotted the game at seven. However, DeStefano responded with a kill sparking a 3-0 Panther spurt that turned into a 18-11 Brown and Gold lead on another DeStefano hammer. The Purple Knights would get no closer then that and eventually fell 25-13.
