Garden City, NY – A goal in each period helped propel the Adelphi University men's soccer team to a 2-0 Northeast-10 Conference victory earlier this evening against Franklin Pierce.
The Brown and Gold struck first early in the game, as
Caelan Hueber scored his sixth goal of the season. Hueber collected the ball in front of the net after
John Sabal headed the original cross off the right post.
That 1-0 held up into the halftime break with the Panthers owning a 8-2 advantage in shots while creating two corners and yielding only one to the Ravens.
Franklin Pierce created the first six shots in the second half to even the shot count at 8-8. However, it was Adelphi putting another tally on the scoreboard as
Diego Zuniga struck from 22 yards out on the unassisted goal during the 70th minute.
The Panthers finished with a 15-11 advantage in shots as well as a 5-2 lead in corners.
The Panthers step out of conference play for their next game, traveling out east to face Dowling on Wednesday for a 7:00 pm match.
