Waltham, MA – The Adelphi University got back on the winning track today with a 4-0 victory at Northeast-10 Conference host Bentley earlier today.
Freshman forward
Jeanine Nunez rallied the Panthers (7-3-1/4-3-1 NE-10) early with a goal in the opening five minutes off a feed from
Meaghan Simmonds. Just a little more than 20 minutes later,
Laura Gomez put the Brown and Gold up 2-0 as Nunez got around the keeper to feed Gomez.
The Panthers doubled its lead in the second half to 4-0 during an eight minute span.
Samantha Lanza scored both of the tallies, first in the 58th minute followed by another in the 66th. The first came from
Victoria Antonino followed up by
Kelsey Simpson assisting on the fourth goal of the game.
The Brown and Gold finished with a 16-6 advantage in shots against the host Falcons (2-10/0-9 NE-10) as well as leading in corner 4-2. Senior keeper
Sam Whitney needed to make three saves to preserve the victory.
Adelphi is back on the road this Wednesday with a 4:00 pm match in West Haven, CT to face league foe New Haven.
