Day One Results
Laurel, MD - The Adelphi University women's bowling team opened up their 2014 campaign with a 5-0 day in baker play at the Frederick Underwood Classic in Laurel, Maryland. Hosted by Bowie State University, the sweep left the Panthers claiming the third place standing with a 3509 pin-count.
To start the day, Virginia Union fell by 151 pins to the hands of the Brown and Gold, 699-548. The Panthers then fired their best score of the day as the swept aside Coppin State University by 226 pins, 786-560.
In the third match, Virginia State University put up a fight but Adelphi rallied back and completed a 154-pin victory, 665-511. North Carolina Central University kept the match close through two games with the Panthers leading by only 24 pins, but a 199-pin effort lifted the squad to a 67 pin win, 703-636.
To complete the day, the Panthers dispatched the Bulldogs of Bowie State University by 129 pins, 656-527.
The Panthers ended baker play in third place trailing only NEC rivals Fairleigh Dickinson University and St. Francis-Brooklyn. The team will return to action Saturday to compete in team play.
