Field Hockey Silenced by AIC Yellow Jackets, 2-0

With nine shots on goal, the Panthers were unable to earn a victory over Northeast-10 Conference opponent American International College.

The Panthers have a 4-3 overall record as they open up Northeast-10 Conference play this weekend.
Box Score Garden City, N.Y.- Despite having 22 shots, nine of them being on goal, the Adelphi University field hockey team was unable to earn a non-conference win against conference opponent American International College Wednesday evening. The Yellow Jackets picked up their fifth win of the season (5-3) as the Panthers drop to 4-3 overall.

The first 15 minutes of the game were kept on the offensive side for Adelphi, in which the Panthers took six shots towards senior goalkeeper Kori Huffman. Momentum would shift as AIC's Jenna Masionis would grab her own rebound off a save by Kelly Serrao, and find the back of the cage for the first goal of the night, her sixth on the season.

Coming out of the half, the Yellow Jackets had the opportunity for cushion as Kaylin Harbin would take a penalty shot, which would push AIC ahead 2-0. Adelphi had 13 shots in the second half but were still unable to find a way to score. An attempt from Mary Plotas was recognized then revoked, as both officials ruled she was outside of the box.

Serrao had three saves in the loss while Huffman registered nine.

Coach's Thoughts on the Game
"We just couldn't get it in the cage tonight," said Head Coach Gloria O'Connor. " We need to focus on Saturday's game and be prepared to come out aggressive versus Merrimack as we open up conference play."
