Garden City, N.Y. - Behind a first-half hat trick from Jody Van Aardt and a two-goal performance from Lana Mignon De Wet, the Adelphi University field hockey team cruised to a 6-1 victory over American International College on Saturday afternoon.
The win marked the Panthers' sixth consecutive victory as the Brown and Gold celebrated Senior Day in impressive fashion.

- The Brown and Gold have now won 11 consecutive matchups against the Yellow Jackets, dating back to Oct. 1, 2016.

Highlights:
- Van Aardt led the offensive charge with three goals, bringing her season total to 11.
- De Wet added two goals of her own, bringing her season total to 21 and continuing to extend her program record for career goals.
- Senior Emily Souke also found the back of the cage, netting her fourth goal of the season.
- Fellow seniors Caroline Beakes and Kristi Santos each recorded an assist in the victory.
- Senior goalkeeper Allison Gregory played all 60 minutes in the cage, making three saves while allowing just one goal.
- Adelphi dominated the offensive battle, outshooting AIC 23-7, including a 16-4 advantage in shots on goal.
How it happened:
- The Brown and Gold wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, as Van Aardt opened the scoring just 1:17 into the contest.
- Just over a minute later, the junior struck again, finding the back of the cage at the 2:34 mark for her second goal of the afternoon, quickly doubling the Panthers' lead.
- American International responded at the 7:48 mark, as the Yellowjackets scooped and scored a rebound off the pads of Gregory to cut the deficit to one.
- However, the Panthers answered just before the end of the opening quarter. With one second remaining, Beakes connected with De Wet, who converted her 20th goal of the season to restore Adelphi's two-goal advantage heading into the second period.
- The offensive momentum continued into the second quarter, as Van Aardt completed her hat trick just 59 seconds into the frame, scoring her 11th goal of the season to extend the lead to 4-1.
- Less than four minutes later, Souke joined the scoring party. Following a saved attempt by the visitors, the senior found the back of the cage at the 19:44 mark, giving the Brown and Gold a commanding 5-1 advantage.
- Adelphi carried its four-goal lead into halftime, having outshot the Yellow Jackets 13-6 through the opening 30 minutes.
- The Panthers continued to control possession in the second half, limiting AIC's offensive opportunities while generating seven shots in the third quarter.
- At the 43:47 mark, De Wet put the finishing touches on the afternoon's scoring, converting her second goal of the contest off an assist from Santos. After making a nice move down the sideline, Santos sent a cross toward the middle of the field, where De Wet laid out at full extension to connect on an acrobatic one-timer and find the back of the cage. The goal marked her 21st of the season and extended Adelphi's lead to 6-1.
- The Brown and Gold held the Yellow Jackets to just one shot over the final 30 minutes, preserving the five-goal advantage to secure their sixth consecutive victory and seventh conference win of the season.
