Box Score Garden City, N.Y.- The Adelphi University field hockey team picked up their second win of the season in a 5-1 non-conference contest against Northeast-10 opponent, No. 5 Merrimack College. The victory improves the Panthers record to 2-1 overall and drops the Warriors to an even 2-2 record.
Sophomore
Kristen Bagley was the first to attack the Warrior defense, scoring less than ten minutes into the start of the first half on an assist from senior captain
Jamie Ackerman. Just minutes later, the Warriors would answer with their only goal of the game by senior Candace Waldie.
Answering the attack by Merrimack two minutes later would be sophomore
Molly Cuevas, with her first goal of the season. The second half proved to be a one-sided affair, with two goals by freshman
Lena Pollich and another by Cuevas.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Kelly Serrao only had to defend four shots on goal and had three saves in the victory. Junior Gina Rosinski, in the cage for the Warriors tried stopping the Panthers but was only able to save seven of the 12 shots on goal.
Adelphi is back in action on Tuesday, September 17 when they take on island rivals LIU Post on Motamed Field at 4 p.m.
