Waltham, MA - Earlier this afternoon, the #2 men's lacrosse team took on the Falcons of Bentley College in their final game of the regular season. After notching six goals in the first, the Panthers tacked on another eight while holding the hosts at bay, coming away with a 14-6 victory. With the win, Adelphi moves to 12-1, 10-1 NE-10 while Bentley drops to 4-8, 4-7 NE-10.
For the Panthers,
Ikerson Hopper and
Salvatore Tuttle each scored three goals and tacked on one assist. Six other players all scored one goal to round out the 14-goal day while
Rashad Cureton and
Gregory Puskuldjian went a combined 18-22 on faceoffs.
Eric Janssen picked up the win after seeing 30 minutes in goal, allowing just three goals and making seven stops.
Aidan Bennardo and
John McGrath split the final 30 minutes and made a combined seven saves.
Tim Matheson and Jon Blaisdell each found the back of the net twice for Bentley while Mike Carter and Dan Keefer recorded one apiece. Jarrod Dillon registered the first 45 minutes of the game and allowed 11 goals while Brian Karl finished off the final 15 minutes and allowed the final two goals.
In the first, Adelphi rattled off six unanswered, unassisted goals sparked by
Jamie McAndrew less than one minute in. Hopper and
Kevin Kennedy put in the second and third goals of the game less than 35 seconds apart and then
Patrick Starke found the back of the net to make it a 4-0 affair at the 9:45 mark. In the final minute,
Anthony Rainone and
Robert Rossi made it a 6-0 in the final minutes of the opening quarter.
Matheson capitalized on a man up opportunity to open up the second to get Bentley on the board.
Joseph Sciara and Blaisdell swapped scores to send the game into halftime with the score showing 7-2 in favor of Adelphi.
The third period featured a 4-1 Panther run thanks to the efforts of
Brian Prendergast,
Joseph Sciara, Hopper and Tuttle to push the Brown and Gold cushion out to a comfortable 11-3 advantage.
Two more from Tuttle and one from Hopper in the fourth were matched by three goals from Bentley, but the effort was too little too late as the game came to a close with the score reading 14-6 in favor of the Garden City based team.
The Panthers will now wait until the conclusion of the St. Michael's/Le Moyne game to find out which seed they will claim in the NE-10 Tournament.
