Box Score

Garden City, N.Y. - The #4 Adelphi University men's soccer team recorded the first Northeast-10 Tournament victory in the history of the program with a 3-0 win against the #5 Dolphins of Le Moyne College earlier tonight at Motamed Field. With the win, the Panthers improve to 11-6 overall and advance to the Northeast-10 Tournament semifinals where they will face #1 Southern New Hampshire University.

John Sabal got the Panthers on the board in the 14th minute as he picked up a deflected ball in the box and headed it past Dolphins' keeper Matthew Silva to give the Brown and Gold a 1-0 lead.

In an evenly contested half, it proved to be the only scoring opportunity for either team. The Panthers and Dolphins each took seven shots, but the visitors could not manage to net the equalizer.

In the second frame, Caelan Hueber doubled the Panthers' tally in the 58th minute behind his seventh goal of the season. Huber took a low cross from Nicholas Costa right in front of the net and tapped in a one-timer to give Adelphi a 2-0 advantage.

Juan Aguiar put the finishing touches on the Panthers' victory in the 89th minute, as he recorded his sixth goal of the season courtesy of a penalty kick that was originally awarded to Costa who had to come out of the game after getting injured.

The Brown and Gold out-shot the Dolphins 19-10 and held a 10-9 advantage in corner kicks. Ahmad Salamah recorded two saves to run his record to 7-2 while Silva recorded seven saves in the losing effort.

Coach's Quotes

"I thought we played a very good soccer game and defended their attack and set pieces well. We have very little time to enjoy; I am already preparing for Southern New Hampshire on Friday."
