First Round of Northeast-10 Post-Season Play for Three Teams on Tuesday

Field Hockey, women's soccer and men's soccer all earned bids in their respective NE-10 Tournaments and will all host the first round.

Garden City, N.Y. – Field hockey, men's soccer and women's soccer have all earned Northeast-10 post-season bids courtesy of their strong records and will act as hosts of the first round in their respective sports. All of the games will be this coming Tuesday, November 5 on Motamed Field with field hockey kicking off the afternoon at 1pm. Women's soccer will follow at 4pm with men's soccer capping the evening at 7pm.

The field hockey team decided their playoff fate with a 3-1 win in their final game of the regular season which bumped their record up to 10-8 overall, 5-5 in NE-10 action. Head Coach Gloria O'Connor's Panthers secured the #4 seed in the six-team field and will host #5 Bentley at 1pm. #1 LIU-Post and #2 Merrimack earn a bye to the second round while #6 Southern Connecticut State will play at #3 Stonehill. The winner of the Adelphi game will take on Post while the winner of the other first round game will take on Merrimack on Friday, November 8. The championship game will be on Sunday, November 10.

Women's Soccer

Chris Armas and his women's soccer team have been awarded the #3 seed in the conference tournament courtesy of an 11-1-4, 9-1-4 NE-10 record. They sit behind top seeded St. Rose and American International College. The Brown and Gold will host the #6 Saint Anselm Hawks in the first round; a team they tied earlier in the year. If they win, they will go on to face the winner of AIC/Assumption on Friday with the Championship round on Sunday, November 10.

Men's Soccer

In their first year as a member of the Northeast-10, the men's soccer team locked into the #4 seed heading into their first conference tournament thanks to a 10-6, 9-4 NE-10 record. Carlo Acquista and his squad will get a chance to turn the tables against #5 Le Moyne after falling 2-1 to the Dolphins earlier in the year. The winner will go on to face the victor of the St. Rose/Southern New Hampshire matchup. The Championship game will be on Sunday, November 10.

Panther Club
The Panther Club will be having a reception for its members and all during the games. It will take place in the Center for Recreation and Sports in the Campbell Lounge Room #4 and doors will be open at halftime of the field hockey game. Coffee, snacks and some light refreshments will be available and members and alumni are encouraged to stay and watch the game from the lounge that overlooks Motamed Field.
