Bowling Opens NEC Season in Reading, PA

The team finished 1-3 after their first day of competing at the first NEC event of the season.

Freshman Laura Zaugg contributed a 191 effort in Adelphi's only win of the day against LIU Brooklyn.
Reading, PA - The Adelphi University bowling team finished the first day of the Northeast Conference event with a 1-3 record after placing tenth in last weekends Fairleigh Dickinson University Jamboree.   

The day started with a 883-813 defeat of the Blackbirds of LIU Brooklyn. Freshman Laura Zaugg began her day with a 191 effort.

Match two saw the Panthers fall to FDU by 54 pins despite a solid 236 pin effort by Erica Schneider with a final tally of 1008-954. Zaugg (198), Holly Zink (197), and Kathryn Rivera (190) were capable in the loss.

The Pioneers of Sacred Heart University rallied in the tenth frame as SHU anchor Nicole Trudell fired three strikes to complete a 15-pin win 964-949 despite solid efforts by Schneider (216) and Zaugg (199).

The final match of the day saw the Panthers drop a heart-breaker by 6 pins to the Kutztown University Golden Bears, 947-941 as Zaugg (211) and Schneider (200) stayed steady and freshman Leanne Reed (198) contributed as well.

The Panthers are now 21-16 on the season and will play two team and three Baker matches 
on Sunday, November 10.
