Box Score Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University volleyball team played host to the Ravens of Franklin Pierce University on Friday, November 1 in the Center for Recreation and Sports. The Panther managed to outlast the Ravens in the first two sets, 25-23 and 35-33, before the visitors pulled within one game, 22-25. However the Brown and Gold out played Franklin Pierce in the fourth game, 25-18, running their win streak to six games and improving to 16-8 overall and 8-1 in Northeast-10 play.

Kaitlyn DeStefano led all players with a game and season-high 21 kills, while Shelby Stoner chipped in 13 and Haley Blunt added 10. Sierra Crook led four Panthers in double digit digs with 15, as Blunt, Katie Bryson and Ajsha Mekulovic contributed 14, 13 and 10 digs. Bryson quarterbacked the offense, picking up 48 set assists to go with a team-high six service aces, and DeStefano was a wall at the net, collecting a game-high seven total blocks.

The Panthers moved out to a 16-9 lead in game one, but a late charge by the Ravens gave the visitors the lead, 23-22 on an Adelphi service error. However, a Blunt kill knotted the action at 23 and kicked off a 3-0 spurt that gave the Brown and Gold a 25-23 first game win. Franklin Pierce took an early lead in game two, 10-5, and continued to lead late, 20-15. But, a 5-0 Adelph run tied the score at 20 all. From there it was back and forth until a DeStefano kill broke a 33-33 tie and a Raven attack error handed the game to the Panthers, 35-33.

The Ravens jumped out to an early lead again in game three, this time running to a 9-3 advantage. Adelphi would slowly chip away at the Franklin Pierce edge, getting as close as one, 23-22 on a Bryson service ace, but back-to-back kills from the visitors dashed Adelphi hopes and pulled the Ravens to within one game, 25-22. The fourth game proved to be the deciding one and it was all Brown and Gold. Adelphi moved out to a 9-5 lead an extended that margin to seven, 21-14, on the way to a 25-18 set win and a 3-1 match victory.
