Box Score Springfield, Mass. - The Adelphi University field hockey team traveled to American International College on Wednesday, October 9 for a Northeast-10 Conference contest. For the second time this season the Yellow Jackets managed to keep Adelphi scoreless, winning 1-0. The loss drops the Panthers to 1-2 in conference and 6-5 overall. AIC improves to 6-5 overall and 1-2 in the NE-10.

With her tenth goal of the season, Jenna Masionis found a way past Adelphi goalkeeper Kelly Serrao, on a pass from Erica McLean. Serrao had 10 saves in the loss, against a team that outshot her own, 20-7.

Much of the second half was played in favor of the AIC offense, but not before Adelphi sophomore and leading scorer Mary Plotas took a diving shot in front of the net that the Yellow Jacket keeper would turn away in the 66th minute to preserve the shutout and the win.

Coach's Thoughts on the Game
"We were unable to come back from an early goal and defeat a team that we saw earlier this season," stated Head Coach Gloria O'Connor. "We need to put this game behind us and get back on track for the next conference game."
