Robert Cincotta, the Adelphi University women's bowling team picked up its 500th win Sunday afternoon at the Kutztown University Team Invitational. The Brown and Gold defeated Cheyney University
in a lop-sided 324 pin affair, 878-554, in the second match of the day to reach the milestone. The team finished fourth overall with a score of 4520 with a 2-3 record. After their opening weekend, their season record stands at 6-5.
The tournament was filled with nail-biting losses and one-sided victories for the Panthers. In their first match of the day, the Panthers faced no. 10 ranked St. Francis University. The match was neck and neck throughout, coming down to the last frame. The Red Flash anchor delivered the victory as she tallied the final 30 pins to close the four pin win 944-940. Kathryn Rivera (225) and Jessica Lutz (198) turned in fine efforts in the defeat.
In the third match, the team faced Northeast Conference rivals St. Francis Brooklyn. Erica Schneider (221), Rivera (213), and Holly Zink (194) lifted the squad to a 130 pin victory with a final score of 972-842.
The Blackbirds of LIU saw their anchor Brittany Hart deliver a blow to the Panthers in the tenth frame lifting them to a 12 pin victory 888-876 despite another fine effort by Lutz (202).
In the final match of the day, the Golden Bears of Kutztown University rallied to a 44 pin victory, 898-854. The efforts of Lutz (227) kept the match close throughout.
Individual honors included Lutz, as she was named to the All-Tournament Team with the third highest average of the tournament at 201.
