Garden City, N.Y. – The #6 men's lacrosse team hosted Northeast-10 rivals, #11 St. Michael's Purple Knights, earlier this afternoon. After a scoreless first and finding themselves down by one, a five-goal third period muscled the Panthers through just enough to hang on for an 8-6 victory in front of the home crowd on Motamed Field. With the win, Adelphi advances their record to 7-2, 3-2 NE-10 while St. Michael's moves to 6-4, 2-4 NE-10.

A balanced attack, excellent goal keeping, and impressive face off success was the highlight of Adephi's win. Nine different players registered at least one point with all seven goals coming from seven different stick heads. Greg Puskuldjian, to go along with his one goal, won 14 of 17 face offs and scooped up 12 ground balls to put the Panther's on the offensive end of the field most of the game off the draw.

Joe Celano and Joe Vitale each had a goal and assist with Vitale putting the Panther's ahead 1-0 at the 14:35 mark of the second with his 20th goal. He then earned his 20th assist after dishing the ball to Celano for his 15th goal of the season just 1:36 later.

Celano then picked up his second point on an assist from a Shane Wynn score as part of Adelphi's five-goal third period. Timothy Aiello came up big in the third, putting in the period's first goal to even the slate at 3-3 while also assisting Kevin Kennedy as he notched his seventh goal of the season.

Doug Quednau gave the Panther's the go ahead goal at 4-3 while Shane Wynn and Puskuldjian put in back to back scores to put Adelphi up 7-4 heading into the fourth before Danny Blau put the icing on the cake with the eighth and final goal of the game

In goal, senior Eric Janssen had a solid outing, making 16 saves while allowing just six goals to pick up his eighth win.

St. Michael's Connor Glackin had two points and would have had three, but his goal with 1:50 left in the first was called off due to an illegal pocket in the stick head. Pete Donnally provided a good portion of the offense for the Purple Knights, scoring their first and last three goals.

Marty Vanzo and Max Zuccarini each had two points while Cooper Quenneville added an assist. Chris DeMairo made 13 saves between the pipes and suffered his fourth loss of the year.

The Panthers are back in action on Tuesday, April 10 when they visit the Setters of Pace University in a NE-10 matchup in Pleasantville, N.Y. at 4 pm. You can catch the action by checking out live stats provided by Pace by clicking here.
