Adelphi vs. Minnesota State University – Moorhead
The Panthers and Dragons played a scoreless first inning, but the Adelphi bats came alive in the second.
Amanda Krier worked a walk to lead off the inning and was replaced by Amy Ogden, who was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and then took third on a
Jaclyn Binstock single. Ogden scored Adelphi's first run of the game on a passed ball, and Binstock stole home after a
Kayla Rieger walk, giving Adelphi a 2-0 lead.
Adelphi then loaded the bases and Rieger scored on another passed ball. The final two runs of the inning were scored by
Heather Salerno and
Emily Dorko, Dorko on a
Jeanine Leo RBI and Salerno on a Dragon miscue, giving the Panthers a 5-0 lead just an inning and a half into the action.
The Brown and Gold would add five more runs in the top of the third and Binstock started things off when a triple down the left field line scored Krier. That was followed up
Meghan Heiser double to left that plated Binstock easily and a Salerno single that scored
Victoria Wink, who was running for Heiser. One batter later, Leo stroked a double to center, that was just short of the fence, bringing both Dorko and Salerno across the plate and ballooning Adelphi's lead to 10-0.
The hit parade continued in the top of the fourth as Adelphi plated four more runs, opening the inning with back-to-back doubles from Krier and
Katie Andrews, pushing the Panther bulge to 11-0. Two batters later Wink smacked a shot up the middle, plating two more Adelphi runs as
Natalie Camarda and Binstock scored to make it a 13-0 lead. A
Kristina Cavallo single to short, brought around Wink, giving Adelphi it's final tally of 14 runs.
Andrews took care of the rest, even ending the game with a bare handed grab and toss to first. Her final line was five innings, two hits, no runs and two walks and four strikeouts, earning her first win of the 2012 season.
Binstock led the offensive charge, going 3-4 with three runs scored and an RBI, while Salerno was 2-2 with two runs scored and an RBI. Krier and Leo were also hot, as Krier was 2-3 with two runs scored and Leo was 2-3 with three RBI.
Adelphi vs. Slippery Rock
After a scoreless first inning between Adelphi and Slippery Rock, the visitors managed to load the bases in the top of the second, taking a two run lead, 2-0 on a walked run and a passed ball. The Panthers responded in the bottom of the inning by loading the bases themselves and brought one run across the plate when Amy Ogden scored on a wild pitch to make it a one run game, 2-1.
The Brown and Gold struck again in the bottom of the third when Krier started a two out rally with a single up the middle and Binstock kept things rolling when she worked a walk. Both players were driven in when Heiser laced a double straight up the middle, giving Adelphi a 3-2 lead.

Laurin Watts needed, as she tossed 5.2 innings of relief, allowing just two hits, giving up no runs and striking out eight to earn her first collegiate victory.
Natalie Camarda got things rolling for the Panthers, throwing 1.1 innings, striking out one and giving up one earned run and two runs total.
