Bowling Goes 2-3 in Day One of First NEC Event

Reading, Pa. - The Adelphi University women's bowling team completed a 2-3 outing at the first Northeast Conference tournament of the season on Saturday. The Panthers, who now stand 22-6 overall, pulled out wins over Monmouth University and St. Peter's University but fell to New Jersey City University, Kutztown University and St. Francis College.

Adelphi started the day with two fine efforts by Holly Zink (221) and Erica Scheider (216) but fell short to the Gothic Knights of NJCU by 59 pins 987-928.

The Panthers then rebounded with a victory against the Hawks of Monmouth University by 201 pins, 1,103-902. The victory was led by a complete team efforts as Samantha Morlack (248), Kathryn Rivera (234), Schneider (214), Zink (214) and Michele Fitzpatrick (193) combined their efforts.

Adelphi then fell to the Terriers of St. Francis College by 69 pins, 941-872.

The Golden Bears of Kutztown University completed a 101 pin defeat of the Panthers, 968-867, despite a valiant 193 effort by Morlack.

The final match of the day saw the Panthers defeat the Pea Hens of St. Peter's University by 55 pins, 970-915, as Fitzpatrick (208), Zink (204), Schneider (202), Morlack (191), and Lecksi Durinsky assisted by Rivera (165) helped the Panthers to a 2-3 day.

The Panthers return to play on Sunday in day two of the event.
