Box Score
Garden City, N.Y. - The Adelphi University field hockey team earned its fifth win in six games with a 4-0 shutout of Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference action on Motamed Field on Sunday. The Panthers improve to 5-9 overall and 4-2 in NE-10 play, while the Purple Knights slip to 4-10 overall and 2-4 in league competition.

In their second shutout victory of the season, the Panthers received goals from four different players and outshot the opposition 12-5 and took 12 penalty corners to the visitor's three. A trio of first half scores gave Adelphi a comfortable lead heading into halftime, and an insurance goal with 10 minutes to play secured the Panthers' fifth win of the season.

Freshman Kristen Bagley put the Panthers ahead early, slapping in a shot from the left side off a quick pass from classmate Molly Cuevas. Midway through the half, Cuevas found herself on the scoring end, potting a backhanded sweep shot from the top of the circle to put Adelphi up 2-0.

At the 33:55 mark, senior Erin Grekin extended the lead, sneaking a rolling shot past Saint Michael's keeper Sarah Healey. The Purple Knights kept the Panthers at bay for most of the second half despite nine shots, but Cassie Cabral broke up the scoreless period when she one-timed a loose ball in the middle of the circle to register her team-leading eighth goal of the season.

Adelphi goalie Kristine Puzio made four saves in her second shutout of the year, improving her record to 4-6 overall. For the Purple Knights, Healey made eight saves while dropping to 3-6.

The Panthers return to action on Wednesday when they host fourth-ranked UMass Lowell in NE-10 action at 7 p.m.
