Box Score

Springfield, MA -Earlier this evening, the women's soccer team took on the #10 Yellowjackets of American International College in a Northeast-10 Conference contest. The Panthers allowed a goal in each of the halves but unfortunately were not able to respond, dropping the game by a score of 2-0. The Panthers move to 9-5-3, 6-5-3 while the Yellowjackets move to 12-2-2, 11-1-2 NE-10.

AIC scored the go ahead goal in the 18th minute courtesy of Allie Fitzsimmons' fifth goal of the year on a sideline pass from Devan Boundy.

The Panther's offense struggled from the get-go as they were only able to get two shots off, one of which was on goal. Meanwhile, their counterparts fired 10, five of which were stopped by keeper Sam Whitney. Kaitlin Monteith's attempt in the 29th minute sailed wide while Bianca Lastra's shot was met with a save by AIC goalie, Samantha Tabak.

The uphill battle continued in the second as the Panthers spent most of their time on the defensive end, dealing with 22 AIC shots, eight of which were on goal. In the 73rd minute, Sarah Tomlinson's fourth goal of the season gave the hosts an insurance goal and put Adelphi in a late 2-0 hole.

The Brown and Gold only managed three shots, however two of them were on the mark. Amanda Reverberi and Monteith's tries were saved by Tabak while Meaghan Carey's shot was wide.

The Panthers were outshot 32-5 and were blanked 8-0 in corner attempts. Whitney made a career high of 12 saves despite suffering the loss while her counterpart, Tabak made three.

The women's soccer team is back in action on Saturday, October 27  at 1pm when they host the Skyhawks of Stonehill College in a NE-10 showdown. Senior Day will be celebrated at the beginning of the game. It is the final game of the regular season before the Panthers move into the conference tournament.
