Kutztown Invitational Team Matches Scoresheet
Reading, Pa. - The Adelphi University women's bowling team wrapped up its season-opening weekend with a second place finish in team match play at the Kutztown University Invitational on Sunday. Complimenting Saturday's first place finish, the Panthers went 4-1 in day two, improving to 10-1 overall on the season.
Senior
Samantha Morlack and sophomore
Kathryn Rivera landed on Sunday's All-Tournament Team for their outstanding showings. Morlack, who earned Tournament MVP honors on Saturday, led the way with 1,070 total pins, while Rivera knocked down 1,054 pins in all.
Match one saw the Panthers battle the Terriers of St. Francis College.
Erica Schneider fired a 247 effort and was assisted by Morlack (225) and Rivera (212) on the way to a 15 pin victory, 1,016-1,001.
Adelphi then suffered its only loss of the weekend, falling by 62 pins to St. Francis University despite an outstanding 237 effort by Rivera and a 209 game by Morlack. The Panthers' seven-game win streak came to an end, 1,056-994.
The squad returned to its winning ways in exciting fashion as the Panthers faced the Blackbirds of LIU. Seniors
Kristina Porter (222) and Morlack (213) lead the team to the narrowest of victories by one pin, 974-973.
The Panthers then rattled off back-to-back wins of 120-plus pins, handily defeating Kutztown University (997-870) and Hampton University (958-832). Morlack's 251 sparked the win over the Bears and Rivera threw a 245 to go with a 205 game by
Holly Zink to take down the Pirates.
Adelphi returns to action next weekend when the Panthers travel to Daytona Beach, Fla., to take on a talented field of bowlers at the Bethune-Cookman University Invitational.
