Morlack earns MVP honors, Panthers surge to perfect 6-0 start

Reading, Pa. - The Adelphi University bowling team started off the 2012-13 season with a bang by claiming the Kutztown University Baker Invitational championship on the strength of a 6-0 effort on Saturday.

Senior captain Samantha Morlack was selected as the tournament Most Valuable Player on the strength of her 21.7 filled frame average.

Match one saw the Panthers take on the Arrows of Ursuline College. The talented squad from Ohio took the lead early and commanded an 11 pin lead heading into the final game of the match. Led by Morlack, Adelphi fired a 231 effort to claim a 76 pin win, 759-683.

Match two saw the Panthers hold an early lead and hand Lincoln University a 214 pin loss, 729-515.

Next up, Medaille College could not contain the Panthers despite a fine 205 effort falling by 148 pins, 755-607. The Panthers then unleashed a fireworks display at the expense of Coppin State University with games of 234 ,236, 216 and 217 en route to a 368 pin victory, 903-535.

The Bisons of Howard University came calling in match five and the Panthers continued to roll with a 102 pin victory, 753-651.

The final match of the day saw Adelphi defeat the Pirates of Hampton University by 125 pins, 787-662. The Panthers' total of 4,686 pins was tops in the field with St. Francis College (4,640), Kutztown University (4,543) and Long Island University (4,511) claiming the top four spots.
