Staten Island, N.Y. - The Adelphi University swim team traveled to Staten Island, New York on Tuesday, January 17 to take on the College of Staten Island. The Panthers earned a total of 15 first place finishes as the men and women topped their hosts by identical, 77-66 scores. WIth the victories the men improved to 8-1 overall, while the women raised their record to 7-2.
The women had two swimmers pick up two first place finishes, led by
Ana Galesic who took home top honors in the 200 yard freestyle (2:09.48) and the 400 yard individual medley (5:20.57).
Jaclyn Dodenhoff was the only other Panther to collect two first places, out touching the field in the 1000 yard freestyle (12:.18.97) and in the 100 yard freestyle (1:01.72).
Brittany Stanford and
Amanda Steinfeld also picked up first place honors, Stanford used a time of 27.45 in the 50 yard freestyle and Steinfeld touched the wall in 2:22.24 in the 200 yard backstroke.
Charlotte Davies rounded out Adelphi's top finishers, taking first in the 200 yard butterfly (2:43.05) and then teamed up with Steinfeld,
Jessica Calia and
Jessica Ras to fnish first in the 400 yard medley relay (4:40.17).
Kyle Jones and
Zach Terzano turned in double first place performances for the men. Jones in the 100o yard freestyle (11:15.20) and the 200 yard butterfly (2:07.12), while Terzano countered with top honors in the 400 yard individual medley (4:19.28) and the 100 yard freestyle (50.57).
Three other men collected first place finishes as
Corey McKee got to the wall first in the 200 yard freestyle (1:50.18),
Steven Gromling in the 50 yard freestyle (22.63) and
Karim Harris posted the top score in the 1 meter dive with a total of 163.42.
The Panthers close out the dual meet portion of their schedule on January 21 when they travel to Albany, New York to face Northeast-10 rival St. Rose at 1:00 pm.
