Lowell, MA – The women's soccer team visited the Riverhawks of UMass Lowell earlier today for their fourth conference matchup of the season. The Panthers jumped out ahead late in the first half, but UML responded with an equalizer in the early minutes of the second half. After regulation, the score was locked at one a piece. In overtime, Chali Beard notched the game winner in the 95th minute to secure the victory. With the win, Adelphi moves to 3-2, 2-2 NE-10 while the Riverhawk's record stands at 2-2, 1-1-2 NE-10.

During the first half, play was relatively even between the two sides with UML holding just a one shot advantage over the Panthers. Meghan Carey lifted Adelphi to take the lead in the 40th minute after receiving a pass from teammate Kaitlin Monteith and beating keeper Jill Carlson to give her team a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

The Riverhawks responded just 2:25 into the second half when Jenna Costa dribbled down the left side and sent a cross to a waiting Keanna Santos who found the back of the net, leveling the score at one a piece. Adelphi's defense was tested as they were outshot 12-3 in the second half, but they prevailed and stood their ground, holding their counterparts to a tie at the end of regulation.

In overtime, in the 95th minute, Emily Masiello had possession of the ball in UML territory and sent a cross to Beard who fired a shot that went under the keeper, scoring the game winning goal.

The Panthers were outshot 19-9 and had four corner opportunities compared to UML's seven. Sam Whitney recorded her second win on the season and made six saves in the process.

The Panthers return to action when they host the #9 Golden Knights of St. Rose on Tuesday, September 20 at 7:00 pm on Motamed Field. The game will be streamed live at aupanthers.tv.
