Game One
Pace got on the board first, as they took advantage of a two bases runners when a two out single brought both Setters across the plate, 2-0. Deandra Leo led off the bottom of the second with a home run, pulling Adelphi within one run, and Shay Craig knotted the game at two in the bottom of the third off of a Paige Rhodes single.
Craig gave Adelphi the lead an inning later when she crossed home plate as Leo reached first on a Pace error, 3-2. The score would remain, 3-2 until the top of the seventh when the Setters got a one out home run to tie the contest at three all. Three batters later a double sent two Pace base runners home, giving the Setters a two run lead heading into the bottom of the seventh.
Leo reached base again, this time working the count for a one out walk, two batters later Jeanine Leo found her way to first when a fly ball dropped into the outfield, giving Adelphi two runners on. Katie Andrews brought both runners home with a hard hit ball down the third baseline that was misplayed, tying the action at five and sending the game into extra innings.
Leighann Bell set Pace down in order in the top of the eighth and in the bottom of the inning, Maria Canino hit a one out three run bomb that gave Adelphi the walk off win, 8-5.
Both Craig and Jeanine Leo had two hits on the day, while Canino and Deandra Leo had one hit each, but had three and two RBI respectively. Bell picked up the win, her seventh of the season, throwing eight full innings, striking out eight and giving up just nine hits.
Game Two
Adelphi jumped out to an early lead in game two when Emily Dorko was driven home by Craig in the bottom of the first, 1-0. Heather Salerno would tack on three more runs in the bottom of the second when she smacked a two out double, scoring Jeanine Leo, Andrwes and Dorko, 4-0.
After a scoreless third inning, Adelphi put four more runs on the board in the fourth, getting two off of a Craig single and one each on a bunt from Amanda Krier and a single to right from Canino, 8-0.
That was more then enough support for Andrews, who threw five innings, striking out six and giving up just two hits to collect her sixth win of the season, fifth complete game and third shut out.
Dorko and Craig swung hot bats in game two both going 2-3, as Dorko scored three runs and Craig drove in three.
Adelphi returns to action on Saturday, April 16 when they play host to Southern New Hampshire at noon in Garden City.
