The Adelphi University volleyball team traveled to West Haven, Connecticut on Tuesday, October 18 to take on Northeast-10 leader the University of New Haven. The Panthers fell in three straight games, 25-17, 25-19 and 25-19, dropping their overall record to 13-6 and their conference mark to 6-2.
Chelsea Overholt and
Haley Blunt led the Adelphi offense with seven kills each, while
Kaitlyn DeStefano and
Patawe Simms chipped in five each.
Katie Bryson had 27 set assists in the game, while both Overholt and
Bianca Hernandez had 11 digs.
New Haven took charge of the first game, committing just two attack errors, while the Panthers tallied nine in the 25-17 loss. The Panther offense continued to struggle in the second game, committing 10 attack errors, but Adelphi's defense forced New Haven into seven miscues. However, the Brown and Gold dropped game two, 25-19. The third game went New Haven's way again, 25-19, giving the host Chargers the victory, 3-0.
Adelphi returns to action on Friday, October 21 when they travel to North Easton, Massachusetts to take on Stonehill College at 7:00 pm.
