Worcester, MA -
On Wednesday night, the women's soccer team visited the Greyhounds of Assumption College in a Northeast-10 contest. Assumption dented the goal column early on in the first, but the Panthers clawed their way back in, scoring two late second half goals to come away with the 2-1 victory. With the win, Adelphi advances to 6-5, 5-5 NE-10 while the Hounds drop to 3-8-1, 1-8-1 NE-10.

Kelsey Imondi wasted no time putting her team out front as she scored the game's first goal just ten ticks past the eight minute mark on a pass from teammate Molly Kessler. With momentum on their side, the Hounds managed to tally 10 shots on goal while their defense held the Panthers to just one in the first 45 minutes of play.

However, Adelphi came out of the locker room and ramped up their intensity to get back in the game. Both the offense and defense came to life as they manged to get five shots on goal while holding their counterparts to just two.

In the 75th minute, Sarah Cote broke the Panther silence with an unassisted goal, her first of the season, to level the playing field at one a piece. Just over eight minutes later Emily Masiello rose to the occasion and made a big time play off of Cote's pass to net what would be the game winning goal and give her team the victory on the rainy night.

Despite giving up an early goal, Sam Whitney was solid between the pipes, stopping seven attemps while her Grehound counterpart made four saves in the loss.

The Panthers are back in action next weekend on Saturday, October 15 when they take on the Purple Knights of St. Michael's College in a conference contest in front of the home Family Weekend crowd.
