Aug. 31, 2007

Garden City, N.Y. - Junior Mark Hoffman scored early in the first half, giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead over Albany at Virginia Commonwealth's Sports Backers Stadium on Friday evening in the opening match of the Nike/Alltel Classic. Albany responded with two goals, stealing a 2-1 win from Adelphi. The loss drops the Panthers to 0-1 on the season, while Albany sits at 1-0.

Adelphi got on the board just over one minute into the game on Hoffman's tally, which occured after Kemalie Preston found an open Hoffman and fed him the ball.

The Great Danes and Adelphi played the remainder of the half scoreless, heading into intermission knotted at one apiece.
