Madison Zicchinelli joins the Adelphi University softball coaching staff as an assistant coach ahead of the 2027 season.
Zicchinelli comes to Garden City after beginning her coaching career on Long Island, most recently serving as an assistant coach with both Team Beast Softball and Miller Place High School.
Zicchinelli joined the Miller Place varsity softball staff in March 2025, working alongside the head coach to develop practice plans and game-day lineups while providing instruction in hitting, fielding, throwing and base running. In her first season on staff, she helped guide Miller Place to a 20-5 record and a county championship.
In October 2025, Zicchinelli joined Team Beast as an assistant coach at the 18U level. In her role, she assists with in-game defensive strategy, player evaluations and individual skill development while mentoring athletes interested in continuing their softball careers at the collegiate level.
Zicchinelli previously served as a head softball coach at Lasorda Legacy Park in Yaphank, N.Y. in 2022, where she organized practices, developed lineups and worked individually with athletes on their development.
Prior to beginning her coaching career, Zicchinelli was a four-year member of the Western Connecticut State University softball program from 2021-25. She was twice named to the NCAA Little East Conference Academic All-District Team in 2023 and 2024 and earned NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete recognition in 2024 and 2025.
While at Western Connecticut State, Zicchinelli also gained experience in athletic communications, serving as an intern with the sports information department in 2024. Her responsibilities included recording live statistics, producing social media content, writing game recaps and feature stories, conducting interviews and maintaining rosters and biographies on the athletics website.
Zicchinelli graduated from Western Connecticut State in 2025 with a bachelor's degree in professional writing with a concentration in journalism and public relations and a minor in sports media. She graduated with a 3.7 GPA, was a four-year Dean's List honoree and was a member of the Kathwari Honors Program.
