Linda Gundrum

Linda Gundrum has been the Adelphi University Director of Campus Recreation since 1987, recently celebrating her 35th year of service to the University.

In May 2021, the Adelphi University Department of Athletics recognized her dedication by presenting her with the Panther Award, which is bestowed upon an individual who has demonstrated loyal support and dedication to the Adelphi student-athletes and athletic department through exceptional service.

Gundrum oversees the entire Campus Recreation department, is the building administrator for the Center for Recreation and Sport, and commands a staff of two full-time employees and three graduate assistants.

She has played an integral part in the development and growth of Adelphi's comprehensive college recreational sports program, having spent 10 years on the planning process for the design and construction of the Center for Recreation and Sport (opened in 2008) and the renovation of Woodruff Hall (re-opened in 2009). Her efforts have also resulted in the adoption of club sports and the creation of a functional training studio.

A professional member of the National Intramural Recreation Sports Association, Gundrum received the NIRSA Outstanding Sports Facility award on Adelphi's behalf at the 2012 NIRSA national conference.

Gundrum serves on several committees at Adelphi, including the CRS Facilities Management Team, the University Health and Wellness Committee, the Relay for Life planning committee and the University Opening committee.

Gundrum was a four-year member of the volleyball team at Rutgers University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in 1984 and helped the Scarlet Knights win an Atlantic 10 Conference title. She obtained her Master's degree in Sport Management from Adelphi in 1986, after working for two years as one of the inaugural campus recreation graduate assistants.

Gundrum resides in East Meadow, N.Y., with her husband, Todd. They have two children, Matthew and Jennifer.
