Joan Cash joins the Adelphi coaching staff with a strong background as both a Division I student-athlete and a developing coach for her first season in 2025-26.
A standout on the UCLA Women’s Swim Team, Cash served as team captain, where she led goal-setting discussions, fostered a positive team culture, and acted as a vital liaison between coaches and athletes. Competing in the highly competitive PAC-12 Conference, she balanced over 20 hours per week of training and competition while graduating with a B.A. in Communications (3.9 GPA) in just three years. She also completed her her Master’s in Education with a focus on Transformative Coaching and Leadership at UCLA in June.
In her final season, she was racing the 50 freestyle and contributed to the winning 200 free relay at the Fresno State Invite, which recorded a time of 1:32.72.
Alongside her collegiate career, Joan has built a strong coaching foundation. She serves as Head Coach of the YULA High School Swim Team, where she emphasizes technical development, sportsmanship, and holistic growth for her athletes. In addition, she has worked as a swimming instructor for UCLA Swim Camps, teaching foundational through advanced skills to a wide range of age groups, and as a lifeguard at Jones Beach, NY, where she developed leadership, emergency response, and communication skills in high-pressure situations.
A Long Beach, NY native, she is an active member of the UCLA Student-Athlete Mentors Club, where she supports wellness initiatives for student-athletes, and she volunteers with Special Olympics UNIFIED Sports, promoting inclusion and teamwork.
