Adelphi University Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation Danny McCabe announced the appointment of Jessica Roque to the position of Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Administration in October 2019.

Roque took over for longtime compliance officer Kate Whalen, who recently stepped down from her post at Adelphi after two-plus decades to assume the role of Associate Athletics Director at Regis University in Colorado.

"We are thrilled to welcome Jessica to the Adelphi family. Her compliance knowledge and experience within Division II at a number of our peer institutions were exactly what we were looking for in this search," said McCabe. "Jessica will help us to support our student-athletes and coaches, as we look to provide the best possible intercollegiate experience."

Prior to coming to Adelphi, Roque served as the Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance at Division I Long Island University from 2017-19.

In her time there, Roque was responsible for all aspects of athletic compliance at the institution, including the oversight of recruiting activities, scholarship budgets, waiver drafting and submission and student-athlete eligibility. She also managed and maintained the overall spending budget for a 25-sport varsity program and assisted in the supervision and management of 75 coaches, professional staff and support personnel.

Roque is quite familiar to Division II, having served in similar roles at fellow East Region institutions University of New Haven, Queens College and now-defunct Dowling College.

Additionally, Roque spent four years (2009-12) as a softball student-athlete at Dowling, where she appeared in 190 career games and helped the Golden Lions to an East Coast Conference title in 2010.

Upon graduation, Roque went on to serve as an Athletic Media Relations Graduate Assistant at LIU Post from 2012-14, before being named the Sports Information Director at Widener University in 2015.

Roque received her bachelor's degree in Sports Management from Dowling in 2012 and earned her master's from LIU in Business Administration in 2014.
