Adelphi University Director of Athletics and Recreation Danny McCabe announced that Emily Dorko ('13, MBA '15) was hired for the position of Associate Athletic Director of External Relations effective Feb. 15, 2017. Additionally, Dorko was announced as the department's Senior Woman Administrator in November of 2019, following the departure of long time SWA Kate Whalen.

In her position she oversees all communication efforts for the department, including the branding and marketing strategy for all social media platforms. She works alongside the Coordinator of Special Events and Athletic Marketing to ensure implementation and execution of all major department events while acting as the liaison to Adelphi University's Alumni Relations and Advancement departments. Dorko's role sees her act as liaison for Advancement/Alumni Relations and the Special Events Team while also collaborating with University Communications and Marketing.

She serves as the primary sports information contact for volleyball, women's lacrosse, men's lacrosse, cross country/track and field, men's basketball and swimming and diving, while acting as the program administrator for baseball, volleyball, and cross country/track and field.

In every year that she has been back with the Panthers, she has seen an increase in the amount of donations given on Adelphi's annual Giving Day and assisted in special campaigns surrounding the renovation of the men's lacrosse locker room and baseball clubhouse. For the Northeast 10 Conference, she served on the committee to launch a conference-wide digital network, NE10 NOW, and  now oversees all FloSports initiatives as the league launched a five-year multimedia agreement in 2024.

In 2017 and 2019 she served as the primary sports information contact for the Division II women's lacrosse National Champions, a program that has seen nine titles since 2004. Adding to the ring case, she was the primary contact for the back-to-back Division II men's lacrosse National Champions in 2024 and 2025.

In 2024, Dorko was named a College Sports Communicator Ring Star - given to a member of the industry for outstanding service, dedication, energy and enthusiam to the athletic communications profession.

Dorko returned to her alma mater after nearly two years at nearby NYIT, where she served as Assistant Athletic Director for Strategic Communications under Athletic Director Duane Bailey in Old Westbury, N.Y. In that role, Dorko managed all sports marketing and promotions for NYIT's 14 Division II athletic teams, and supervised all sports information activities. She was also responsible for the execution of the strategic plan and other initiatives, including oversight of the official athletics website and social media accounts and acting as the liaison to local, regional, and national media outlets to advance and promote NYIT Athletics.

For the previous two years, Dorko worked as the graduate assistant in the Adelphi Office of Sports Information to ensure coverage of all 23 NCAA Division II programs and served as the primary media contact for field hockey, women’s bowling, women’s basketball, baseball, softball, and tennis. She was responsible for all graphic design elements and promotional marketing pieces for the department, as well as regularly updated all athletic department social media accounts. She implemented several campaigns to promote the Panthers, served as the art director of the Student-Athlete Orientation video, and was the co-advisor of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

A native of Matamoras, Pa., Dorko is a double alumna of Adelphi, where she received her bachelor's degree in marketing and her M.B.A. in marketing from the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business. She was also a two-sport athlete, lettering in volleyball (2009-2012) and softball (2010-2013). She was also named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association First Team All-America in her final season at Adelphi, and holds the program record for career steals (106) while ranking fourth in career hits and fifth in career average.

She currently resides in Malverne with her Adelphi-alum husband, Matt and son, Anthony.
