Joanna Haich became the head coach for the Adelphi University men's and women's tennis teams for the 2016-17 season, after a spring season as an interim head coach, a fall season as an assistant coach and a decorated four-year career as a player.
In the spring of 2016, Haich led both the women's and men's teams into NCAA Tournament play for the first time since 2010, as the women earned their first berth in four years and the men returned to the NCAAs for the third straight year. The women claimed the NE10 Championship regular season and tournament crowns in the fall season, while the men's team finished as NE10 runner-up for the second year in a row. Haich and the women's squad completed a Cinderella run to their second straight NE10 title in the fall of 2016, as the No.5 seeded Panthers knocked off No. 3 Assumption, No. 2 SNHU and No. 1 Stonehill to win the title.
In her four seasons on the women's team, Haich earned three Northeast-10 All-Conference honors in singles and two in doubles. As a freshman, she helped Adelphi to an appearance in the NCAA East Regional by going 14-1 in singles and 13-3 in doubles. In her remaining three years, she proved to be a versatile force in the Brown and Gold lineup, playing at every singles and doubles flight over the course of her career; she helped the Panthers to their first-ever Northeast-10 Championship match in the 2013-14 season, and their first-ever NE10 regular season title in 2014-15. She ended her career with a 49-19 singles record and a 37-16 record in doubles.
Haich completed her undergraduate studies at Adelphi in 2015 and is currently pursuing a master's degree.
