Carlos Acevedo enters his second season as assistant coach of the Adelphi University women's basketball team in 2017-18. He assists in all aspects of the program including recruiting, compliance, scouting and practice management.
Acevedo is in his fifth year as his fourth year as the head coach with the J&M Cobras AAU team, a program that focuses in helping inner-city youth in lower income neighborhoods to showcase their talents, and become academically sound and more socially responsible within their communities. In this role, he coordinates the team's schedule and fundraising efforts, and trains student-athletes throughout calendar year to enhance a culture of responsibility, dedication and sportsmanship. Previously, he served as an assistant CYO coach with Resurrection Ascension School in Middle Village, N.Y.
Acevedo graduated with a degree in corporate communications from CUNY Baruch College in 2011, and is currently pursuing a master's degree in physical education at Adelphi.
