Dr. Lena Washington, DPT, CKTP enters her second season with the Panthers track and field program in 2024-25.
Primarily focusing on the hurdles specialty, Washington began her coaching career in 2003 at Kellenberg Memorial High School. While there, she coached many All American/All state athletes, including an outdoor National Champion Shuttle Hurdle Relay team (which currently holds the Catholic School National Record).
She left Kellenberg in 2015 in order to coach at Christ the King, where she served as a co-Head Coach, leading to a boys All-Federation 4x400 relay team, and multiple Intersectional state champions in the 100HH, 400IH, and 400m.
In 2023, She returned to Kellenberg to coach sprints and hurdles while also joining the Adelphi coaching staff.
Her track career started in nearby Freeport, N.Y., where she was an all-state competitor in the 400IH, 4x100, and 4x400 relays. Upon graduation Washington first competed at Uconn, eventually transferring to the New York Institute of Technology. For a track program that was disbanded and has since lost it's athletic department, she holds school records in the 500m, 400 hurdles, and indoor/outdoor 4x400m relays.
She was a four-time Division II All American: (4x400 and 400IH); 2003 NYCAC Conference champ in the 400m, 4x400m, 4x100 and a runner-up in the 400IH and 200m.
