Angela Mongitore enters her second season as an assistant coach for the Adelphi University track and field teams in 2017-18, after a four-year career that saw her graduate as one of the most decorated Panthers in history.
Mongitore concluded her career as a Panther student-athlete as a five-time qualifier for NCAA Championships across the indoor and outdoor seasons, and a three-time All-American in the 400m.Â
During the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships, Mongitore set a personal best of 54.63 during the 400 meter finals to earn fifth place. This year, her personal best of 54.68 came during the Northeast-10 Conference Outdoor Championships to land her on the All-Conference Second Team.Â
In addition, the Massapequa, N.Y. native placed within the top-eight at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Championships, after her first All-American performance in the 400m came during the 2014 NCAA Indoor Championships.
Mongitore graduated with a bachelor's degree in exercise science from Adelphi in December of 2014, and earned her master's in physical education in the fall of 2016. She is currently the winter and spring track and field head coach at Sacred Heart Academy in Hempstead, N.Y., as well as a physical education teacher at the school.
