Adelphi University Head Softball Coach Carla Campagna is pleased to announce that Tierney Fitzgerald will be joining her coaching staff for the 2024 season.

Fitzgerald came to Adelphi last year from St. Bonaventure University and produced a 1.91 earned-run average in 40.1 innings pitched in 2023. Over the season's final month, Fitzgerald pitched to a 2-0 record with two saves and a 0.87 ERA in helping the Panthers to their second-consecutive NE10 Tournament crown.

As she continues to pursue her master's degree in Health Education, Fitzgerald will lend her experience in a mentorship role as an assistant coach.

Fitzgerald will work to apply the same principles that she learned from legendary Adelphi pitcher and 1996 Adelphi Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Julie Bolduc -- who coached her for ten years.

"We are excited to welcome Tierney to the Adelphi softball coaching staff. No stranger to Adelphi, Tierney's determination and commitment to this sport and program is what stands out the most. She is very detail oriented, passionate and shares the same goals as I do for Adelphi," Campagna said. "I have no doubt that she will help us grow the program, develop our student-athletes and continue to be a student of the game."

"As someone deeply passionate about the game and committed to helping athletes reach their full potential, I am honored to be part of this coaching staff," Fitzgerald commented. "I'm eager to contribute my insights, drive, and enthusiasm to support the team's success. We will work together to achieve greatness on and off the field."

Fitzgerald will be tasked with working with the pitchers, while also assisting with defense and recruiting. She spends time coaching Team Long Island's 10U and 12U travel teams, as well.

Fitzgerald received her bachelor's degree in Physical Education from St. Bonaventure in December 2022.
