She served as the Hawks' team captain from 2006-08 and was SUNY New Paltz's first-ever All-American, earning third-team honors in 2008 after posting a .397 batting average with 32 runs batted in, 35 runs scored, two home runs, one triple, 15 doubles and 13 stolen bases. In 2009, she served as an assistant coach at SUNY New Paltz, helping lead the team to a 19-19 overall record and a 9-11 mark in the State University of New York Athletic Conference. Motzkin graduated from SUNY New Paltz in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in marketing and a minor in psychology. She has started working towards her master's degree in sport management and coaching leadership at St. John's.
