Joe Burbridge was named the sixth Head Softball Coach in Adelphi University history on August 24, 2006. He replaces Kate Whalen who spent 13 years at the helm of the Panther program.
Prior to joining the Panthers he spent two years as the Assistant Softball Coach at Dominican College. There he helped the Chargers to a 56-45 record and a second place finish in the Central Athletic Collegiate Conference in 2006. His responsibilities included assisting in day-to-day operations of the program including practice planning, recruiting and on field coaching.
Other coaching experience includes a two-year stint at Paramus Catholic High School, coaching both sub varsity basketball and softrball. While there his teams were highly successful both on and off the field.
In addition to his coaching experience, he spent five years as elementary school teacher at Most Blessesd Sacrament School, Paramus Catholic High School and for Tenafly Public Schools.
Burbridge graduated from Suffern High School in 1987 before earning a B.A. in Communications from Ramapo College in 1993. He obtained a M.A. in Education from Seton Hall in 2000. He is also a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
He currently resides in Mahwah, New Jersey with his wife, Joann, of ten years. The couple's first child, Colleen Paige, was born on October 27, 2006
