As the new era continues to be ushered in, Adelphi University softball head coach Katie Apostolopoulos has announced the hiring of Jenna Laird, a 2024 University of Missouri softball graduate.Â
Laird comes to Adelphi as an East Meadow, N.Y. native after a stellar four-year career at Missouri. Playing shortstop primarily at Mizzou, she hung up her cleats as the program's all-time leader in consecutive games played. In addition, she finished inside the top-10 in multiple statistical categories during her time in Columbia ; she was second in at-bats (794), third in hits (279), and fourth in runs (200) just to name a few.Â
Laird made her impact on campus instantaneously, winning Southeastern Conference Rookie of the Year in 2021, and led the Tigers to NCAA Tournament appearances all four years.Â
"We are so excited to welcome Jenna to the Adelphi softball family after such an extremely successful playing career at Mizzou. With her beginning her coaching career at Adelphi, we're looking forward to the wealth of knowledge and passion for the game coming to our program," commented Apostolopoulos.Â
